Safeguarding during these unprecedented times

5 May 2020 (by admin)

Within all schools, safeguarding is an important issue and managing this remotely, during these unprecedented times, brings many challenges. However, there are many ways in which you can help your child.

Child Line and the NSPCC have great websites to help you discuss safeguarding with your child at home.

The NSPCC website is aimed at parents and carers. It has useful headings giving pertinent support ranging from 'Talking to children about the Corona virus' to 'Working from home' (see link below).

The Child Line website is more geared for children, but it would be beneficial to take time to look at this website together. Again, there are many useful headings - the 'Top Ten Tips for Lockdown' particularly useful (see link below).

Your child's class teacher has also posted the following message on the Google Classroom the pupils in their class -

Keep talking to people and tell someone if you need support
Whilst we are in lock down, it is really important keep in touch with friends online, and talk to people at home. Talking about what’s happening can help to remind you that you’re not alone. Remember that you can still contact your class teacher by sending a message on Google Classroom or you can visit for advice too.

The School has written a COVID-19 addition to the current Safeguarding policy. Currently, this is being agreed by the Governors and it will be on the school's website shortly - please look out for this.

Finally, if you need support or are concerned about a child's safety you can contact the school or if it is an immediate issue then you need to get in touch with Front Door For Families (please see the link below).

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch,

Mark Rodericks, Deputy Head Teacher and Designated Safeguarding
